By analyzing data collected by NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), they identified 56 "ultra-red flattened objects" that had gone unnoticed by previous telescopes.

These alien galaxies were likely hidden behind clouds of dust.

However, the advanced technology of the James Webb Telescope, including its ability to detect infrared light, enabled scientists to capture images of these disks located in the farthest reaches of space.

According to researchers from the University of Colorado, these hidden galaxies are similar to the Milky Way but significantly "dustier."

Lead author Justus Gibson said about the discovery: "JWST allows us to see this type of galaxy that we never would have been able to see before.

We thought that closer to us, we already had a pretty good understanding of all the types of galaxies there are,' Gibson added. 'It tells us that maybe we didn't understand the universe as well as we thought.
